I went to another ward today to hear their ward choir, which did a great job, and I heard a good talk. During the entire talk she listed what she was thankful for. She went category by category and listed everything. One might think it would be boring, but it made me think about all of the things I am grateful for. So, I will attempt to make my own list at the end of this post. I know it won’t encompass everything, but hopefully a lot of what I am thankful for.
So, Mike has been overseas for the last two weeks and is finally home! Yea! He went to Australia and India. They lost his suitcase on the way home, but found it and have returned it already. It’s SO good to have him home! Instead of picking him up on the curb, I decided to park and meet him at the baggage claim area. He thought I was waiting by the curb in the car and didn’t see me walk in and so I goosed him from behind. He had NO idea it was me and the look of astonishment on his face when he turned around was priceless. Then we hugged and kissed, of course.
Cameron had his last tennis lesson this week and had a good time. Errolyn had her last volleyball game this week and did MUCH better at the last game at controlling the ball and being more aggressive. Logan got a goal in his soccer game and he has a make-up game, his last game, in a couple of weeks. Our AC went out last week so we had to pay to get a new fan motor upstairs, and then the metal flange on our downstairs toilet broke so we had to pay for that… there went our Christmas bonus. Errolyn and Logan both had team parties at Peter Piper pizza on Saturday so they could receive their trophies and have fun with their teams. Logan also had his first “friend” party at Chuck E. Cheese. He had a great time and really enjoyed it… and I am so glad we don’t do these very often… mass chaos and too much money! Saturday was SO busy and I was grateful that Carol and Grandma helped with rides and kids’ games so I could get everywhere I needed.
My Messiah rehearsal went SO well tonight! I love conducting! I love the Messiah! It’s going to be great this year!
I am Thankful for: Family!
Mike- who completes me, who is worthy to hold the Priesthood, who is a good Dad and plays with our kids, who helps clean and do laundry, who supports me in my talents and undertakings, who is patient with me, who is my best friend, who I love with all of my heart; Cameron- my firstborn, who is intelligent, handsome, full of wit and talent, who has such a good heart, who tries so hard to be righteous; Errolyn, my little mother, who always thinks of others, who helps and cleans and is kind, who is witty and smart, who is talented in all she does, who is my social butterfly and leader among her peers; Logan, my little man, who is reading so well and is so smart, who excels in piano and singing and music, who loves me so much and makes me laugh, who just wants my attention and to be with me, who loves sitting on my lap; and my little Emma who is such a bright spot in all of our lives, who is so pretty and lovable, who always smiles and loves everyone, who is such a little mother and worries about others, who helps me clean and dances with me, who is finally potty trained, and the unborn babe- who I love already and hope will join our family soon (no, this is not announcement).
My Dad- who has always been an example of righteousness, who is intelligent, with a great sense of humor that is his own, who counseled me with patience and without nagging, who loves me unconditionally, who would sing to me on the guitar when I was sick or sad or just because, who I aspire to be like; My mom- who put up with my wild spirit, who loves me, who taught me to put myself into everything I do, who taught me to be creative, who taught me music, who wore herself ragged so I could live my life, who is a great teacher, who is still a kid at heart, who is blunt and honest and passionate in spirit; Janet- my off and on again best friend, who I love talking to and talk to almost every day, who is most different from me and yet most the same as me, who I’m so glad lives nearby; David- who is a great example of righteousness and desire, who went through more hard times than a child deserves and came out better for it all, who although is solemn in word and thought, is a kid at heart and loves playing with my kids, who I look up to; Linda- my sister I wish I’d known better, who has been through so much and yet is so positive and works so hard, who is kind and patient, who sees the good in others, who spirituality surprises me at times and yet does not at the same time, who has a great fashion sense and the hair I always wanted (no frizz!), who could achieve anything she puts her mind to; Cheryl J.- who is just like me in so many ways, who has an infectious laugh and is still a kid at heart, who is fun and smart, who tries so hard, who cares about everyone else and shows a level of empathy I wish I could achieve; Kevin- my brother I pray for the most, who I could not bear to live without and I worry about the most, who makes me the most angry and yet makes me feel the most love at times, who wants to be his own person, who is street smart, who loves my kids, who makes me think, who is serious and yet is kind and generous.
Carol- who has helped me in so many ways, who loves my kids and me and shows it in so many ways, who is always helping others, who is the most frugal person I know and yet the most generous at times, who has become a great friend, not just my Aunt, Grandma A.- who I am so grateful to live close to, that my children have been able to get to know her, for her blunt and honest words, for her generosity and smiles, for her energy and will power; Kathy- for not being judgemental, for telling me I’m a good mother and encouraging me, for gestures of friendship I need to return more often, for her strong spirit and determination and positive attitude; Jim- for the good conversations, for the musical bond, the similar sense of humor to my Dad, the pictures of my kids when I forget my camera (a lot!), and just being a good person; Grandma and Grandpa F.- for being so kind, for being such good examples of righteousness, frugality, and being self-reliant, for their positive and energetic spirits.
Judy (my other mom)- for always being kind to me, for being accepting of me even though I do things differently, for loving me and my family, for the fun adventures and trips; Milo- who is observant and kind, who is a hard worker and a big jokester, who obviously loves Mike’s mom which is nice to see; Cheryl M.- for the fun garage sale trips, for her honesty and bluntness, for the fun game nights and talks, for being a good friend; Jerry- for showing me that a family is a team, who tells a story longer than almost anyone else, who plays Mr. tough, but has a heart of gold.
Ok… I didn’t even get to in-laws, or nieces and nephews, or other aunts, and uncles and cousins… and I’m not even out of the family category yet… lol. But, I will stop there and maybe add to the list next year. I am truly grateful for all of my friends and family and how much they mean to me! I just barely listed what I’m grateful for about each person… there is SO much more! I love you all!

I don’t think you are thankful enough (grin). I am thankful for a daughter who has become one of the least selfish persons I know, who loves and serves others to extreme, and who has her eyes fixed firmly on the light at the end of the journey. And thank you for the kind things you said about me. Love you.
Thanks Susan. You are my best friend too, and I love you forever. I am so grateful for you too.
Mike
P.S. I’m glad it was you that goosed me. I got goosed by an airport security guard during a pat down in India and I have to say I liked yours better.
Lol, I would have loved to see Mike’s face too. Next time bring someone else to video tape it.
